Our Communities

The magic of the Powell River region, without doubt, has a lot to do with the spectacular scenery - sandy beaches, rugged mountains, lakes and rivers. Add warm and friendly people and you have a little slice of paradise in which to live or visit.

There are events all year long; a wide range of businesses and services; a multitude of local groups and helpful organizations; recreational and sports opportunities; and a vibrant arts and culture community that includes a music academy, dance schools, art galleries and much more.

The ‘Communities’ button above provides links to the major areas that make up the Upper Sunshine Coast of BC, or, check out the Community Photo Albums that have a brief description of each community.

As a point of information, Powell River Direct is a one-woman volunteer service provided as a way of giving back to the community we love. If you believe the site has value and would like to support this effort, please take a moment to ‘Like’ the Facebook page. That is where I post community news of interest as well as new additions to the site.
